IN pursuance of the authority in me vested by the “ Militia Act 1858,” I, Thomas Gore Browne, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby make and ordain the following regulations respecting the formation, training, and exercise of a Company of Volunteers enrolled in the District of Auckland, under an Order in Council dated the twelfth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and fifty eight, named the “ Auckland Volunteer Coast Guard.” I. The Company shall consist of Two (2) Lieutenants, Five (5) Petty Officers, and Fifty five (55) men. 2. The Arms shall consist of I'Mve (5) great Guns for the Company, and a Rifle or Revolver Pistol with Accoutrements, and a Cutlas for each man. 3. The day and hours for training and exercise may be fixed from time to time by the Senior Lieutenant of the Company, subject to the approval of the Governor. 4. The Company will be trained and exercised for the present by instructors from one of Her Majesty’s Ships of AVar, and afterwards by their own Officers.
