Recovery of the Helen.-—The Helen* schooner, which was pirntically seized in November lait, by Wilgori, Lucas, Gregory, Paynter, Ryan, Ross, Austin, John Johnson, Michael Crawley, and two seamen that the pirates pressed iiro their service, viz. — John Robson, and Andrew Ramsay, are now in safe custody on the isla-id of Upoln, (one of the Navigator's ) It appears that after landing Captain Griffith*, on the north cape of Niw Zealand, the vessel was iteered for the South Sea Islands, en route for California, and made the island of Upoln, where Mr. Pntchttrd the British Consul had been made aware of her leisure, by tlie arriviil of the Sabinc. No so >ncr had the captain of the Helen landed than I.c was placed, (together with his boat's crew,) in prison, and the schooner taken p issession of. The pirates had changed the name of Helen to thai of the Pilot, said to hail from Adelaide. The Helen left Upoln for Sydney the same day with the Mazeppa having 1 ou board twenty-six pasiengers and crew of the Sabinc. Expected in Sydney—(From California): — Coquette, schooner, 72 tons, Elliott. Margaret, brig, 184 tons, M'Lfod. Giraffe, bri/r, 261 tons, Robinson. Elizabeth Archer, barque, 338 tons, Cobb. Maria, barque, 472 tons, Plank. Maukin, brig, 106 tons, Campbell. William Hill, brig, 116 tons, Oir. San Francisco —The Sarah Ann, Captain Dunnctt, 105 da^s from Sydney, arrived at San Franciaco on the sth February. The Maria, Captain Plank, was advertised for Tahiti and Sydney. The Pilgrim, Captoin Francis, from Auckland, 77 days out, and the Maukin, 80 days from Auckland, both arrived on the 4th of February. VVe have Been Ipttera from passengers by the Victoria, from Syduey to California, dated Honolula. January 24th, giving the most wretched accounts of the state of that vessel, and complauring most bitterly of the conduct of the charterer and agents, paiticularly the former (Mr. Deacon.) The provisions appear to be of the ranst wretched description, and so deficient in quantity, that for a month before arriving at the Sandwich Idlands, the passengers were on short ratious.— There was no hospital, and the only medical comfort on board was sago. In this stale, a vessel, having 353 touts on board, was sent on a voyage of eight thousand miles ! 1 Like everything else connected with California, the whole affiir appears to have been a delusion from the beginning. Loss of the Sabia'E.—We regret to state that on the 26th January last, the American brig Sahwe, from this port to California, was totally lost off a reef oft Upolu. Ihe passengers and crew were all saved, also a portion of the cargo, but it was so much damaged by salt water, that it told for a mere trifle. Stevenson, Mr. and Mrs. Murray, Mr. A, Murray. Dr. Bayes, Mr. and Mrs. Coyler, Mrs. William* and four children, Mr. and Mrs. Gill and son, Mrs Yates, three daughter* and one son ; Messrs. J. Woods, W. M'Phee, J. White, J. Wiggins, Elian H«bb», H. Kunnett, H. W.ight, Is»ac Levey, A. Sullivan, W. Templeton, M. Graham, W. Elphiostone, W. Dyer, C. Tihbey, T Hetheringtou, A. Holaes, A. Holmes, junior. The vessel was uninsured. A very small portion of the cargo was uninsured.
