Sydney, Oct. 30. The doath is announced to-day of tho Hon. Sir William Macarthur, M.L.C. of Now South Wales, aged 82 ; and aleo of Mr W. Forstor, lately AgontGoneral for Now South Wales in London, nged 64. Tho stcara«hip Woniora was inaurod for L7OOO in the Australian Allianco Company. There was only one survivor from tho wrock.
Melbourne, Oct. 30. Arrived — Tho Orient s,s. Austral, from Plymouth, Sept. 16. An oxciting sceno occurred yesterday in Hobaon's Bay, on board the Norwegian barque Thor, 1100 tons, about to sail for Maiden Island. Jj'ivo desorters had been brought on board as tho vessel was on the point of leaving, whoti they all jumped overboard. Ono narrowly escaped boiug drowned before he was scoured. Tho water police ultimately captured tho others and took them on board again, whereupon the whole of the rest of tho orow refused to work. The vessel is thoreforo still detained.
