WAITAKI ELECTION. DECLARATION OF THE POLL.

The official declaration of the Poll was made yesterday afternoon, by the Returning Officer, T. W. Parker, Esq., as follows, tiz : — Thomas W. Hi slop 366 Samuel £. Sbrimski 300 William J . Steward 1 90 Joseph O'Meagher 110 He therefore declared Messrs Hislop and Shrimski duly elected. The successful candidates briefly returned thanks. Mr O'Meagher, on being called for, addressed the electors. He thanked those who had voted for him, and also those who had placed him in the position he occupied at the declaration of the poll, and he considered that, under all the circumstances of the election, he occupied a position of honor in being associated with Mr Steward in his defeat. The proceedings then terminated.
