(By Telegraph). Auckland. Dec. 22.
At the City West election to-day, only Sir George Grey and Mr. Dignan were nominated. Both were accordingly declared by the Returning Officer duly elected. Sir George Grey spoke at length upon the tendencies of Centralism towards corruption as shewn throughout history.
Avon. Chriatchurcii, Deo. 22. Mr. Rolleston was returned to-day for Avon District, unopposed.
