A filly named Virago has been nmtrfftf remarkably well this season in Eaalasd. &t the Epsom Spring Meeting she tody, the QK* and Suburban Handicap, of one tiuli ind>« quarter, beating Marc Antony, OrcatM, Ijtfb David, Adina, Prime Minister, Brocket, fa* venon. Mistletoe, Itch, La Bella, The Queen's Own, filly by ABcot, Madame Landean, Merry Monk, Lysisca, The Novice, Grimalkin, Phoenix, Humboldt, Mishap, Adelaide, and Hero. The race was won in the commonest of canters, in 2 mm. 15 sec. On the same day she won the Great Metropolitan Stakes (handicap) of two miles and a quarter, giving two atone to horses of her year who had been pronounced fliers. The field consisted of Muscovite, Jonathan Martin. Ariosto, Hunca Munca, Jouvence, Pantomime, Exact, Haco, Gossip, Black Doctor. One mile and a half; time, 2 mm. 42 sec. Virago is by Pyrrbus the First, out of Virginia, and is the property of Mr. Howard. Her future engagements were in the 1,000 Guinea Stakes, in the Somersetshire Stakes, in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood, and in the York- " shire Oaks.
