Mistletoe, Itch, La Bella, The Queen's Own, filly by ABcot, Madame Landean, Merry Monk, Lysisca, The Novice, Grimalkin, Phoenix, Humboldt, Mishap, Adelaide, and Hero. The race was won in the commonest of canters, in 2 mm. 15 sec. On the same day she won the Great Metropolitan Stakes (handicap) of two miles and a quarter, giving two atone to horses of her year who had been pronounced fliers. The field consisted of Muscovite, Jonathan Martin. Ariosto, Hunca Munca, Jouvence, Pantomime, Exact, Haco, Gossip, Black Doctor. Annie Southerland, Gamekeeper, Caliph, Shakespere, Ving et-un, Royalist, Cable, and St. Clair. Time 4 .mm. 15 sec. A fortnight afterwards, the filly won the Great Northern Handicap at York, carrying 10 lbs. extra, beating Lough Bawn, Balrownie, Defiance, Kingston, Vindex, Grapeahot.Typee, Lord Falconberg, Colsterdale, Catherine Parr, Guicowar, Ammonia, Heaphr* The Puritan, Merry Monk, and Jujube. Ran, Virago palling double, in 3 mm. 49 see. ; distance two miles. On the day following the filly was again successful, and, with 9lbs. extra, carried off The Flying Dutchman's Handicap, beating Ivan, Vanderdecken, Alonxo, Talfourd, Ammonia, Light of the Harem, and El Dorado. One mile and a half; time, 2 mm. 42 sec. Virago is by Pyrrbus the First, out of Virginia, and is the property of Mr. Howard. Her future engagements were in the 1,000 Guinea Stakes, in the Somersetshire Stakes, in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood, and in the York- " shire Oaks. Io April last, a cart stallion of the Lincoln brted, and a thoroughbred attlliob, were shipped

on boird the Caroballa, for Adelaide, to the order of Mr. C. B. Fisher. The thoroughbred horse has been named South Australian, and is of the best blood in England, having been got by Cotherstone out of Joannina, by Priam, out of Joanna, by Sultan ; Cotherstone by Touchstone out of Emma, by Whisker.
