ELECTION OF MEMBERS FOR THE PROVINCIAL COUNCIL FOR THE TOWN OF NELSON.
On Wednesday, the day appointed for electing five members (o represent the Town of Nelson in the Provincial Council, the polling commenced at the Court House with great briskness,, and, after a very severe contest, in which Messrs. Bush, Adams, and Travers repeatedly changed their relative positions, but without either ever obtaining any decided advantage over his opponents, the poll closed at 4 o'clock, and gave the following numbers : — Sinclair . . . 161 fr- Renwick .... 160 Hough ... 132 Bush . . . .114 Adams . . . 110 Travers . . . .105 Richardson ... 38 The first five gentlemen were therefore declared duly elected.
