The various staffs of The-Mail assembled yesterday for the purpose of making a presentation to ALr C. Spear, of the literary - staff, who is about to bo married. The presentation was made by Mr W. Simpson, as senior employee, who, on behalf of ms follow-workers, extended to Mr Spear and the bride-elect the customary good wishes. These were endorsed by other members of the staffs, and suitably acknowlcdgediby Mr Spear, after which cheers were given for the prospective bride and bridgeroom. The ‘wedding takes place at Wellington next Wednesday. *
Mr S. E. Neilson was to-dayappoint-ed assistant town clerk, a special meeting of the. City 'Council being _held, at which Mr. Neilson attended. He is at present occupying a circular position at Lower Hutt and will take up his position at Nelson on November Ist. There' were over 20 applicants lor tne position.
