MUNICIPAL BAND.
The annual meeting of tbo above wa3 held last evening, Mr Woodfield presiding, a large number of members being present.
Tne annual report stated that very marked progress had been made by tho band in every way. A new set of instruments had been purchased costing £131. Of this amount £40 10s had been paid off and tbe baud now had a liability on the instruments of £91. Music to the value of £7 had also been purchased. A considerable sum had been received in subscriptions, the total receipts for the year being -£102 lis 3d. The expenditure was £87 16s Id, leaving a credit balaroe of £14 15s 3d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Woodfield, the president, for asnistance rendered, and also to the donors of subscriptions
The following officers were elected •—- President, Mr Woodfield; vice-presi-dents, Messrs L. Giorgi, C. Louisson, A. Guy, B. Drew, G. H. Bennett, T Hastings, H. G. Moore, and T. C Fowler; conductor, Mr M. Brunette* bandmaster, Mr E. Woods; band" sergeant, Mr F. Neame ; sooretary, Mr h Wiss, hnewski; assistant secretary, Mr A. Graham ; librarian, Mr Caville • treasurer, Mr C.Pearson; corporal, Mr -Trass } lance-.corporal, Mr K. PenmaD. It was decided to accept tbe tender of the New Zealand Clothing Factory for tne supply of uniforms to arrive 'i_ & month's time. Colours to be scarlet with white facings and belts, the sample to hand being considered very satisfactory. ' oauiolt*v-
The conductor was voted £q 5> for his past services, and it was resolved that ne be paid £15 per annum for the future
At the conclusion of the business the officers and members were entertained at a diuner, the gathering concluding with cheers for the guarantors of the uniform fund.
