The condition of .Mr John Duthie, M.L.C. who has been indisposed of lat» is causing his relations some anxiety. According to a London cable, Lieut. Butterworth, of the Rifle Brigade, a New Zoalander, has been killed in Flanders. Mr Lachlan McKcnzie, tho well-known stock-breeder and dealer, underwent a serious operation at a local private l hospital yesterday. Goldsmith, the popular Town Clerk, of Lovin, has been appointed clerk to the llorowhenua County Council at a salary of £3OO per annum. Leave of absence was granted on Saturday to Councillor Venn by tho llorowhenua County Council owing to indisposition, and the Council expressed its sympathy with him and wished him a speedy recovery. A quiet but interesting wedding took place at All Saints' on Saturday, the contracting parties taing Miss Beatrice Wilson, only daughter of Mrs Ford, of Toronto, Canada, and Mr Warner Varnham Knight, youngest son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Knight, of Newbury.
