School held yesterday, Mr R. McCallum was re-elected chairman for the ensuing year. The secretary of the Marlborough Education Board has received information that Dr Elizabeth Gunn's visit of inspection to the schools in Marlborough is likely to be delayed for a few days, owing.;to bad weather delaying her work .'-in^,: the North Island

On the recommendation of Dr Innes, the principal,'the Board of Governors yesterday appointed Mr W. A. G. Penlington, M.A., as science master at the High School in succession to Mr L. J. Wild, M.A., resigned. Mr Penlington holds high recommendations. He spent two years at the Auckland; Training College, two and a-half years at the Gisborne High School/ and ovejr a yean* at the Palmerston North, High School. He has taught chiefly mathematics, agricultural science, dairying, and botany. He passed his University degree examinations in English, Latin, Education, Mental Science, and Mathematics; and in the teachers' C examination, received special mention for Latin. He has also studied physics, physiology, laygiene, and first-aid.-*. Mr Penlington is a cricketer and a hockey representative. He has served for eight years in the New Zealand defence forces, holds . a lieutenant's certificate, and has" passed, the theoretical examination, for captain's rank. .._-■■■
