NOTICE. Election of Superintendent. Resident Magistrate's Office, Lyttelton, June 29,1853. I HEREBY GIVE NOTICE, that hay- ' ing received from .the Government the Writ for the Election of a Superintendent of this Province, the Nomination of Candidates for that office will take place at the Land Office, at Christchurch, on Monday, the 18th day of July following, at the hour of one o'clock, p.m. Should a Poll be demanded on.behalf of any Candidate, I appoint the following Wednesday to be the day upon which such Poll shall be held ; and the Polling shall take place at the Resident Magistrate's Court at Christchurch, and at the Resident Magistrate's Court at Lyttelton. The Polling at Akaroa shall take place at such place and time as the Returning Officer there shall appoint. The Polling shall take place between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., at which hour the Polls will be finally closed. Every Elector shall deliver his vote, by personally handing to the Returning Officer, or his Deputy, a Voting Paper, signed with his name, and setting forth his place of abode and description, and further containing the Christian and surname of the person for whom he votes, together with his place of abode and description. THE Shakes in this Society, consisting of 100 at £5 each, having been all subscribed for, and a great proportion of the first call of £l per share having been paid, it is proposed that the granting of loans shall be made on Tuesday evening next, at the large room of the Robin Hood Hotel, between the hours of seven and nine o'clock. Application for forms for a proposed loan can be had of the Secretary. The Society is formed for the purpose of lending money, upon the party borrowing giving his promisary note endorsed by two sureties for the payment of the sum, with interest at 10 per cent added, to be repaid by weekly sums of 2s. in the Pound. Provisional' Committee. The Hon. James Stuart Wortley, Henry John Le Cren, Esq., A. J. Alport, Esq., George Rhodes, Esq., John Birch, Esq., John M. Fraser, Esq. Wm. Clunie, Secretary. Lyttelton Loan Society. A MEETING of the Shareholders in this Society will he held at the large room of the Robin Hood Hotel, on Monday evening next, the 11th July, to take into consideration the rate of Interest to be charged on Loans, to elect a Committee and other officers, to have submitted to them the Deed of Settlement, and for other business. THE Secretary and one or more of the Committee will attend at the large room of the Robin Hood Hotel, in Canterbury Street, on Tuesday evening next, the 12th July, to lend sums to any person requiring the same.
