THE HAWKE'S BAY ELECTION.
The nomination for the Hawke's Bay electorate took place yesterday in the Town Hall, Hastings.
Mr Collinge, the Returning Officer, having read the writ, Mr W. Jlarker nominated Mr Arthur Desmond. [Mr Harker's speech on the occasion will be found in our advertising columns.] Mr Rose seconded the nomination.
Mr G. Heslop nominated Mr Frederick Sutton, and Mr Foreman seconded the nomination.
Mr Wellwood nominated Captain Russell, and Mr Danvers seconded the nomination.
Mr Desmond, Mr Sutton, and Captain Russell having aUdressed the electors present, a show of hands was taken, and was found to be largely in favor of Captain Russell. A poll was demanded by Mr Harker on behalf of Mr Desmond.
