NEW ZEALAND AT THE WHITE CITY.

The New Zealand Pavilion at the White City Exhibition, which was opened last month, contains a good representation oi this country's produots and pastimes. A cold storage chamber with glass windows, in which are displayed New' Zealand's mutton, laimb, poultry, pork, fruit and dairy produce is one of the features of the display. A refrigerator plant has been installed, and the produce is kept in a frozen - condition. There is an attractive exhibit of fleeces and manufactured woollen goods from Kaiapoi, ■Mosgiel and Roslyn, and Mis Neilsen of Auckland, shows her wonderful . collection of kauri gum, which is valued by experts at £5000. The sports section is particularly good, and Mr T. E. Donne, has lent a number of his deer heads. The New Zealand Shipping- Company has prepared a full-sized model of a cabin on the RuahAne. Last yeaar and in 1908 the New Zealand building- stood in darkness after 8 p.m., while all the white palaces around it' were bathed in light. The omission has now 'been remedied, and the pavilion will be outlined nightly in coloured lights. The exhibition was to have been opened by King Edward, and had not death overtaken him, he / would have paid a visit to the dominion's exhibit, la 1908 he went all through the pavilaon with Queen Alexandra and -M. Fallieres, the President of the French Republic. Although only two ' minutes had been allowed in the Royal (time-table for the New Zealand Pavilion, the Royal party were so interested in what they saw there that 'they stayed twenty-six minutes, and to .anyone who knew the late King's passion for punctuality, this delay- was •signinoant. Queen Alexandra . paid special attention to the kauri ' gum, and she was so pleased with some of the. specimens that samples were sent to her at Buckingham. Palace in order that they might be' added to hei own collection. King Edward was always keenly anxious to gain information regarding- his oversea dominions. Whem he visited the Dublin Exhibition a few years ago, the New Zealand Court has been left out of his programme in the tour of inspection , but as soon- as attention was called to the omission, the route was at once altered- by his orders so as to include the dominion's display.
