Notice is hereby oiven that in accordance with the provisions p£ " The Municipal Corporation Act, 1867," Three Councillors will have to be Elected on the 10th day of September instant, being the second Thurs- i day in the mmith, in the room of Messrs Magoflin, Kae, and Kilgour, who retire in rotation, but are eligile for re-election. Now, I, William Horton Revel!, Returning Officer, hereby appoint Wednesday, the 9th I day of September, 1868, to be the Nomination Day, and require that all Nominations must be made in writing, signed by the Candidate and three qualified electors, on or before Tuesday, the day preceding the Nomination day aforesaid, at the Resident Magistrate's Office. Gentlemen — Flourishing as I do at the present time in the dignity of Councillor, and however reluctantlj', according to the order of events I must necessarily retire from so honored, responsible, and onerous a position, but withal so enviable, I may not perhaps be considered presumptious if I again solicit the favor of your votes for re-election. In the event of my being triumphantly returned at the head of the poll, which will of course be the case^ allow me to remark that no other apology for such a favor can possibly be deemed necessary, save my heartfelt thanks for your (in my opiuion) singular discernment displayed in my talent and ability, and would intimate, as in the late election, that 1 don't intend to personally canvas, presuming such free and enlightened citizens will necessarily go to the poll untrammelled by any given pledge.
