MR MORRISON'S FUNERAL.

Saturday night's express brought the body of Mr Arthur Morrison to Dunedin, and the burial took place yesterday afternoon. It was the occasion of the largest turn-out of the public wo have ever seen :-t ;i Caversham funeral. . Every organisai'on in the constituency, official, public, :-Nrl semi-public, seemed to be represented bv an attendance numbering thousands, and apparently embracing well-night all the male electors. The representative fVitiaeter of the funeral was also noticeable. Ts Excellency the Governor sent a con>i>'.:itory message to the widow; the Preliiev forwarded his expression of sympathy; Sir Joseph and Lady Ward had a wreath placed on the coffin"; other wreaths came from the Ministry, the Hillside Workshops, the Caledonian Bowling Club, the Parliamentary Press Gallery, and Mr R. MTtfab; members of both branches of the Legislature were present, headed by the Hon. T. Y. Duncan as the special representative of the Ministry; the Druid lodges represented were the Royal Oak (of which the deceased was a member), Enterprise, Pride of Morniugton, Lily of the VaUev, West Harbor, :md Otago; P.G.P. Bro. Hunter and G.P. Bro. Newton were present on behalf of the District, Grand Lodge, U.A.0.D., Canterbury, and the District Grand Lodge officers of Otago and Southland also attended ; of the Masonic fraternity, Lodge Hiram, to which the deceased belonged, and the sister lodges were fully represented ; and the large following included men of all classes. In all respects the funeral was a fitting end to the career of a man who had been chosen •as a representative of the people and enjoyed their confidence. The Rev. D. Duttoii, of the Caversham Presbyterian Church, conducted the service at the residence in Josephine street, and also attended at the grave at the Southern Cemetery. The pall-bearers were the Hon. A. Lee Smith, M.L.C., Messrs J. A. Millar, J. F. Arnold, A. R. Barclay, E. G. Allen, M.H.R.s. and four P.M.s of the Masonic Order—Bros. Kirby, Peterson, Titchener, and Crichton. Amongst the bodies represented, in addition to those above mentioned, were the Caledonian' Society, the Gaelic Society, the St. Clair Bowling Club, the Workers'" Political Committee, the Caversham. South Dunedin, and St. Kilda Borough Councils, the Mornington Council, the St. Clair School Committee, the Green Island Bowling Club, the Kensington School Committee, and the Dunedin Pipe Band. Mr Camcross, M.H.R.. wr»te to Mr J. A. Millar expressing his regret that, being railed away, he was unable to attend. The followers included the Hon. T. Y. Duncan, the Hons. H. Gourley, D.
