QUARTERLY LICENSING MEETING.
The quarterly licensing meeting was held at the Magistrate’s Court at noon to-day. Mr A. C. Strode, R.M., Mr James Fulton, R.M., Mr I. N. Watt, R.M., and Mr H. S. Fish, 11. M., and Messrs Black, James Brown, and tarnach, J.P.s were on the Bench. (MINERAL AND NIGHT LICENCES, Edward Hogan, Golden Age Hotel, Stafford street; Robert Coneys, Highcliff Hotel, for an inn on the Portobello road—certificate to he withheld until the house is completed. The last-mentioned application was supported by Mr Haggitt. Granted. refusals, James Kelly, Shamrock, Rose, and Thistle, Bluesk’in. (Mr Harris supported the application, which was opposed by Mr Stout). John Pugh Jones, St Kilda Hotel. (Mr Stout supported the application.) Francis M'Grath/llarp of Erin, corner of St Andrew and Great King streets Tenth application. (Mr Harris supported the app’icatiou ) Stuart Leckie, Half-way House, Portobello. (Mr Harris supported the application.) John Campbell Galloway. Ninth application. (Supported by Mr Stout.) The Bench intimated that, at the end of the year, it was intended to revise the list of licensed houses, and to reject those licenses which were at present held by inferior houses, and to grant them to the better class of houses only, COTTLE LICENSES. Andrew MacFarlane, Steinhoff’s Buildings —application supported by Mr M'Keay—received a bottle licence. TRANSFERS. James M‘Kay, Oriental Hotel, to John Scott; Robert Fincher to David Comrie ; R. W. Shepherd to Patrick Keligher (Mr Shaptcr supported the application) ; James D. Hutton, ustralasiau Hotel, to Hugh M'Cutchoou (Mr Harris supported the application) ; Archibald M‘Allister to M‘Kay. Applications granted.
