APPOINTMENT MADE

MR. G. F. BOTHAMLEY

The appointment of Mr. G. F. Bothamley, Clerk Assistant, as Clerk of the House of Representatives, was announced today by the Acting Prime. Minister (Mr. Nash).

Mr. Bothamley has been serving with the Royal New Zealand Navy since 1940 and recently reverted to the retired list. He succeeds Mr. T. D. H. Hall, C.M.G., LL.B., who retires from the position of Clerk of the House of Representatives at the end of this month.

Mr. Nash added that Mr. H. N. Dollimore, who, during Mr. Bothamley's absence, has been acting as Clerk-Assistant, had now , received permanent appointment to that office.

In July, 1940, Mr. Bothamley was appointed by the Navy shipping identification officer at Wellington. He nholds the rank of lieutenant-cor-

mander and served with the Royal Navy for three and a half years in the North Sea during the war of 1914-18. He is a son of the late Mr. A. T. Bothamley, former Black Rod, and a brother of Mr. C. M. Bothamley, Clerk of Parliaments and Clerk of the Legislative Council. Mr. Bothamley was born in Wellington in 1880 and was educated at the Terrace School, Wellington College, and the Royal Naval College, Greenwich. He is well known in yachting circles, being a life member and ex-commodore of the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club.
