Following was the result of the:— NEW OAKS STAKES, a sweepstakes of £15 each and forfeit of £50, with £2000 added; for three-year-old fillies; U miles. . Mr., W. Woodward's Hycilla, 9.0 .. 1 Mr. W. H. Phillips's Monsoon, 9.0 .. 2 Lord Harewood' Kaifhabis, 9.0 .. 3
Won by a length, with a length and a half between second and third. Time', 2.30 3-5. Hycilla did not run as a two-year-old, and at her only~previous start ran second in the Maiden Stakes, for three-year-olds.
Of. the three placed runners, Monsoon was the only one to have figured under silk last season. A bay filly by Umidwar from Heavenly Wind, she won the Fitzwilliam Stakes at Newmarket on June 1, 1943. In all she had eight outings for one first, three seconds, one third, and two fourths. Details are lacking concerning the other pair, but the winner is trained by Boyd-Rochfort, who has some of the King's horses under his charge.— "Binocular." ■'
