MID-CANTERBURY SEAT

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 7. The only nomination received by the Mid-Canterbury branch of the New Zealand National Party as its candidate for the Mid-Canterbury byelection on February 7 is that of Mrs. A. N. Grigg. Her name will be sent forward to the Dominion Council of the National Party for confirmation as official candidate.

The Labour Party previously announced its decision not to contest the by-election for Mid-Canterbury.
