OBITUARY
MR. WILLIAM TURNBULL
The death occurred in "Wellington yesterday of Mr. William Turnbull, architect, at the age of 73. He came to Wellington from San Francisco at the age of four years and had reside I in the capital city ever since. Following in his father's footsteps, Mr. Turnbull at an early age took up architecture as his profession, and a very .large number of Wellington's buildings have been erected to' his designs. He drew the designs for St. Patrick's College, several churches, including St. John's and St. Peter's, and numerous commercial buildings and hotels. For many years he was architect to the Wellington Education Board. To no one architect does the city of Wellington owe so much as it does to ""le late Mr. Turnbull. .
In his younger days Mr. Turnbull was.one qf the original members of the Poneke Football Club and he always took a keen interest in various phases of sport. His interests in other directions were wide. Predeceased. by his wife some 18 months ago, he leaves a family of four sons anoVfour daughters. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning from the Presbyterian Church, Kent Terrace.
