Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Rutherford, Conriemara, Canterbury, and the Misses Kathleen and C. R. Rutherford are visiting Wellington for the races. Mrs. E. E. Mabin, Palmerston North, with her sisters, Mrs. H. A. Speedy and Mrs. N. A. Samson, is visiting Wellington for the races. Mr. R. J. Richards, headmaster of Christ's College, Mrs. Richards, and family, who have been visiting England, are expected to return to Christchurch on Thursday: Mrs. Erik Rutherford, Parnassus, is visiting Wellington. j Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Chapman-Taylor and the Misses Chapman-Taylor, Silverstream, who have been away since the New Year on a camping trip through the North Island, returned to Wellington this week. Mrs. M. Dwyer, Hastings, is visiting Wellington for the races. Mr. and Mrs. C. O. T. Rutherford and Miss Isabel Rutherford, Blenheim, and Mr. and Mrs. Vesey Robinson, Lake Tamara, will visit Canterbury for the Wright—Robinson wedding at Hanmer Springs on February 2. Mrs. Charles Hume, who spent the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Carberry, 17 Macdonald Crescent, has returned to Sydney. She left Wellington by the Wanganella on Thursday. Mrs. Russell Matthews, New Plymouth, left yesterday for Masterton, and will visit Wellington before reutrning home. Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Washbourn and Miss Joan Washbourn, Timaru, who have been visiting Wellington, have returned south. Mrs. S. E. O. Snow, a member of the Wellington Hospital Board, suffered a fractured hip when she was struck by a tram in Riddiford Street after attending a special meeting of the board on Thursday night. Miss Jane Donnelly, Christehurch? is spending several weeks in Wellington as the guest of Mrs. M. O. Barnett. Mrs. Girdlestone, Muritai, is the guest of Mrs. J. Galvin, Pahiatua. Mrs. Rowe and Miss Rowe, Bolton Street, who spent Christmas at Chateau Tongariro and New Year in Cambridge and Hamilton, have returned to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. I. Clissold, Wellington, have returned from a visit to Timaru. Mrs. Garry Daniels, Napier, and her two small daughters, Vonda and Jill, are the guests of her mother, Mrs. B. Robinson, Wellington South. Mr. and Mrs. A. Miller left by the Wanganella for Sydney, en route to England and Scotland. Mr. and Mrs. George Wensley and their daughter, Annetta, Blenheim, are the guests of Mrs. James Benning, 133 Overtoun Terrace, Hataitai. Of seven women who stood at the general elctions in South Africa last year, three were returned. There are now four women' in the South African Parliament, the fourth being Mrs. Ballinger, who is one of the representatives of the natives, and who had not to stand for election this time. Miss Ina Callaghan, Auckland, who has been visiting her mother at Lower Hutt, left by the Wanganella on Thursday for an extended tour of Sydney and Melbourne. Miss A. Van Home, United States, is visiting Wellington and staying ?.t the Hotel St. George. Mrs. P. F. O'Connor, Miss K. O'Connor, and Mrs. H. N. Wilson (Palmerston North), Mrs. N. S.
