PLANS FOR MID-DAY SUN
Mid-day Sun, who is at a short price In the St. Leger market in consequence of the doubts about the Foxlaw colt Cold Scent being fit, is to have one race before the Doncaster classic, states "Sporting Life." This will be in the mile and a-half Manton Stakes at Salisbury on August 23, a little more than a fortnight before the Leger. According to his trainer, Fred Butters, the Derby winner could not be making better progress. His race at Ascot took, nothing out of him. The fourth combined meeting of the Taranaki--and Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Clubs is to be held at New Plymouth on Thursday and Saturday, September 2 and 4. Nominations close with Mr. C. B. Webster, secretary of the Taranaki Hunt Club, New Plymouth, today at 9 p.m., and with Mr. J. C. Grey, secretary of the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club, Waverley, at 8 p.m.
