CHATHAM GUP
RADICAL CHANGE
SOUTH ISLAND FINAL
For the first time in the history oE the Chatham Cup the final in the coming season will be played in the South Island. On, the suggestion of the Canterbury Football Association a radical change in the conduct of the competi-' tion was made by the 46th annual meeting of the New Zealand Football Association last night. Canterbury's remit was that the New Zealand final of the Chatham Cup be played in alternate years in the four main centres of the South and North Islands, this year's match to be played in the nearest main centre of the winning team of the South Island. It was carried with little opposition. Another Canterbury remit that the Chatham Cup entry fee of £1 Is as provided for in the rules be adhered to was lost. The prestige of the game in Canterbury had suffered severely as the result of the dropping of the province from the list of test match venues of the Australian and now the English tours, said Mr. R. B. Bunt, secretary of the Canterbury Football Association, m support of a Canterbury remit recommending that the tour of the English team this season be so arranged that a test match be played in Christchurch, and that for all future tours of overseas teams each major association should take its turn in being dropped from test matches. The recommendation was adopted. "That the N.Z.F.A.'s share of 5 per cent. of the gross gate of all F.A. Trophy matches shall not be a charge on the gate receipts of such matches until after the travelling and accommodation expenses of the . visiting team, and the expenses of the- match have been met," also moved by Canterbury, was lost Mr. A.
