VICTIMS OF DROWNING

ACCIDENT

(Special to the "Evening Post.") MASTERTON, This Day. Mourners from many parts of the North Island and representatives of all sections of the community attended the funerals yesterday afternoon of the late Mr. Norman Murdoch McLeod (son of the Hon. A. D. McLeod and Mrs. McLeod, of Martinborough) and of the late Mr. Hector Sinclair Donald (son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alan Donald, of Featherston), the two victims of the Kahutara drowning accident. The funerals were the largest seen in the district for a considerable time, Mr. McLeod's taking place at Martinborough and Mr. Donald s at Featherston.

The large number of wreaths that were in evidence in both cases indicated the widespread sympathy that was felt by friends and the community generally for the relatives in their sad and sudden loss.

The Rev. R. S. Keenan, of Featherston, officiated at both funerals, conducting a service at the residence of Miss B. Donald in the case of Mr. Donald, and one at the Martinborough Presbvterian Church in the case of Mr. McLeod, besides officiating at the gravesides in both instances. The pallbearers at Mr. Donald's funeral were Messrs. K. McLeod, J. Donald, lan Donald, W. Burt, D. Duncan, and N. Sinclair, and, at Mr. McLeod's interment, Messrs. Ken, Ivan, Gordon, William, and lan McLeod and Q. Donald, Jun.
