POSITION AT KAIPARA.
Many inquiries have been received by the Returning Officer as to the state of the polling in the Kaipara electorate, where the position on the preliminary count was uncertain, Mr Coates having a small lead over Mr. W. Grounds, Independent, with a large batch of absentee votes to come It was learned today that the local Returning Officer in the Kaipara electorate is still busy with the scrutiny of the rolls, and it is not likely that the official count will start until Friday There were over 100 polling booths in this scattered electorate.
