NATIONAL CANDIDATE

GORE, August 27.

. Mr. Thomas Golden, a farmer, of Fortrose, has been selected as National candidate for the Mataiira seat. There were four candidates for the nomination. Mr. Golden previously contested the seat in, 1931 as an unofficial supporter of the Government.

Mr. D: McDougall,< the sitting member, is again standing as an Independent. He declares that he will vote against the Government in support of any other party. .

A Democrat candidate is also possible, the Mayor of Gore (Mr. Newman) being mentioned. ■•■
