HANDICAPPER'S OPINION

It is many years since three two-yeav-old fillies have been classed as superior to all the colts at the, end of a racing season in England, but it is so this time. Fov the Free Handicap, seven furlongs, which is to be run at Newmarket on 6th April, the Jockey Club handicapper, Mr. A. Fawcett, weighted 200 pi last season s two-year-olds, and of these six were allotted 9st or over. Myrobella, who heads the list with 9.7, is credited with being the most brilliant two-year-old filly that has' raced in England for several seasons, and has the same weight as was allotted Orwell and Mannamead in last year's Free Handicap. The handicapper must also regard Betty and Brown Betty as exceptional, seeing he has placed the former only 31b and the latter 41b from Myrobella. Manitoba, who is already being tipped as the winner of the nest Dcvby, heads the colts, but he is conceding only a pound to Hyperion and Jim Thomas. The last-named is not engaged in any of the classics. April the Fifth, who. won the Derby, was not eligible to be weighted for last year's Free Handicap, his three starts at two years not returning a place. The Derby second, Dastur, had 8.5, and Miracle, third in the classic, 8.13. Firdaussi (St. Leger winner), who was weighted at 9.0 for the' Free Handicap, was fifth in the Derby. Lord Lonsdale, the owner of Myrobolla, has no representative in this year's "Blue Riband" classic. The owners of Betty (Lord Astor) and Brown Betty (Mr. W. Woodward) have several en--0 trants, but. all of them are colts.
