HONOURING THE PACT

UNITED DELEGATES MEET

CABTJ3RTON, This Day.

■At a meeting of delegates of the United Party in the Wairarapa electorate at Carterton last evening, the following resolutions were carried:—

"That this largo and representative meeting of delegates of the United Party desires to place on" record its acknowledgment and appreciation of: (1) The efficient services rendered to all sections of the community individually and to the district generally by the member for the district (Colonel T. W. M'Donaid). (2) His untiring efforts in procuring the prosecution of public works such as opening up new roads, river protection works, drainage, etc., thereby securing work for hundreds of unemployed men, and at the same time causing large sums of money to bo spouc in the district. (3) His efforts in securing improved educational and postal facilities in various parts of the district, and his good work in the interests of the Dominion as a whole."

"That this meeting congratulates Colonel M' Donald upon his having been approved as the official Coalition candidate at the forthcoming General Election, and that we- wholeheartedly support the Coalition and pledge ourselves to do everything in our power to secure the election of Colonel M'Donald as the official Coalition candidate."

"That as an earnest of our desire to fully honour the Coalition pact made by the leaders of the two parties, the Right Hon. G. W. Forbes, Prime Minister, and the Bight Hon. J. G. Coatcs, and in order to afford a similar opportunity to supporters of the Beform Party to honour their side of the pact, we invite all supporters and friends of the Keform Party (and therefore of the Coalition) to ■ co-operato with us in securing the return of the official Coalition candidate—Colonel T. W. M'Donald."
