WAIPAWA SEAT

POSSIBLE UNITED SPLIT (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WAIPUKURAU, 26th October. An interesting position in connection with the contest in the Waipawa electorate has arisen. Until this afternoon it was expected that the seat would bo contested by Sir George Hunter (Reform) and Mr.. D. P. Kent (official United Party candidate). Now the introduction of a third candidate, Mr. A. E. Goodgor, ex-Mayor of Waipukurau, is probable as the result of the following resolution carried at a meeting to-da3': —"Whereas the supporters of tho United Party in the Waipawa electorate were not consulted regarding the selection of a candidate to contest tho election, they are therefore not committed to support anyone; whereas the United Party candidate is, in the opinion of the meeting, not a suitable person to represent us in Parliament, the meeting is of opinion that Mr. Goodger be asked to contest the seat on behalf of the party. The meeting undertakes to support an organising campaign."
