Professor Macmillan Brown, Chancellor of the University of New Zealand, arrived in Wellington by the Wahine this morning. Sir James Mills, t chairman of directors of the Union Steam Ship Company, arrived from the South this morning. Mr. A. J. Shepherd, headmaster of the Lansdowne School (Masterton), has received notice" of his appointment as headmaster of the Thames Central School. ■■ Mr. W. J. M'Culloch, Government Agricultural Instructor, and his assistant, _ Mr. E. ;Bates, are in Masterton making final arrangements for the farmers' farm school, to be held at Solway showgrounds next week. Mr. E. Blechingberg, late Vice-Consul for Denmark at Sydney, was a passenger by the Wahine from Lyttelton this morning. Mr. Blechingberg, who has been making a brief tour of the Dominion is leaving Auckland by the Niagara for Vancouver. Dr. Colin Gilray, a former Rhodes scholar and ex-All Black, and Scottish International wing-threequavter,- has been, elected to the vacancy on the Olago University Council, caused by the death of Di\ Cameron. Mr. C. M. Luke, chairman oE the Wellington Hospital Board, who is leaving to attend the Pan-Pacific Conference' at Honolulu, was yesterday granted two months' leave of absence. Mr. F. Castle was appointed acting-chairman in Mr. Luke's absence. Mr.' R. A. Kcnner, general secretary of the Christdiurcli V.M.C.A., who 'has been away on twelve months' leave of absence, during which he visited the United States and England, arrives in Wellington to-morrow morning from Auckland. While in the United States "Mr. Kenner attended two summer schools organised by the V.M.C.A., and was for a period on the staff of the Cleveland, Ohio, Y.M.C.A.,'one of the most progressive organisations of its kind in the world. He was also-present at the international conference of V.M.C.A. leaders at Atlantic City, where the "gathering included representatives of the movement in China, Japan, and most, of the European countries, as well as the delegates from North •America..
