CHRISTCHURCH WINS.

The visit of eight rinks from Christchurch was certainly very happily timed ac regarded weather conditions, and the afternoon play on; Saturday was carried , forward, as during the morning, under a summer sky. The balance of the ; mbrcjng's friendly games was just in , favour of Wellington, who defeated the visitors 149 to 146 points,: but the. Christchurch bowlers settled dowri to earnest business in the afternoon, and \ the Barnett tiki went .back with them,' Wellington beiiig defeated by six games to two, and 204 points to 153. Three of the games were' remarkably close, Wellington 27-25, Christchurch 17-I*6, and 22-21, but in most other games the winners-had fair margins. The day. was in every respect an enjoyable one, the home players extending every hospitality to the visitors. At midday the Christchurch bowlers were entertained at luncheon, over which Sir. S. Potter, President of-the Wellington Centre, -presided, and at which complimentary speeches wcro made of ;the guest* and particularly of Mr. Matt. Barnett, the. donor of the very fine tiki trophy for competition between the two centres for all time. Mr. A. J. Benzie, president : of the Christelrorch centre, and -Mr.-: Barnett, in reply, expressed the great pleasure of the Chrwtchurch bowlers atthe visit and the happy arrangements made for the match and for their entertainment. Mr.'Barnett suggested that the-:Wellington Club was surely entitled to change its name to the Now Zealand Club, for it was the resort of every bowler who called at-Wellington. • ■The results of the afternoon's play were' as' follow :— .

(He said he was very pleased with the result, and was Bure the enjoyment was greatest for the Wellington players, who had done their best to make the visit a, success..
