ADDITIONS TO THE ZOO
Several fine additions are being made to the Wellington Zoo, and also to the collection, at Auckland, as a' result of the recent tour of the southern islands of the Government steamer Tutanekai, which returned to Wellington on Saturday. Five hair seals were secured oil the Enderby Islands. Two of these, one a splendid male, have been giver to the Wellington Zoo; the other three are for Auckland. A rare variety of penguin, known as the king penguin, was captured at the Antipodes, and it is now to be seen at Newtown Park. Twenty penguins and five albatrosses were also taken at the .Antipodes. A few of the penguins and four of the albatrosses died ou the voyage. The rest will be sent to the Empire Exhibition,.
