"The Watcher" in a letter ;to "The Post" argues that Sir Joseph Ward made a mistake in joining with the Reform Party to form the National Government, and that if 'Mr. Wilford now joins forces with Mr. Massey. he will make a Similar mistake, and some of the elected Liberals may hot be willing to follow Mr. Wilford, arid some may be tempted to de•sert because of the Spea.kership_, Chairmanship of Committees, and Ministerial office .which Mr. Massey can offer, and ''Watcher" argues that there are only two parties in New Zealand—Conservatives, and Liberals, the latter including Messrs. Holland and Fraser as well as all others who are trying to help the under-dog. The slower-going members of that party must speedup a little and the others must agree. to' accept half aloaf in the meantime. "Watcher" thinks that) Mr. Massey' will resign be?fore meeting Parliament if he has not a majority of his own followers, and that if other party leaders are unable to carry on the Government; the way will ,be open for a ,team which will amend, the electoral law, necessary'finance, .and then make another appeal to the people.
