In the "course of' the travelogue, "Ten Thousand . Miles' with the Steam Yacht Southern Cross," to be screened at the Town Hall'_; oil Monday," - many dances - are performed, and the "Cockatoo" dance,., performed, by . the ladies of one, island insure t0.., "catch on." Unfortunately, this dance is 'performed by ladies only, fbr.'.iEe'.ineiC of Melanesia would consider the .appearance of a woman in one-of their dances as highly disgraceful, and not to be thought of. : There is, however, one exception, on one email island. Here, on rare and.special occasions, the ladies are permitted to join the d'aace—on all fours! And,. they are esteejnely; gladi of the opportunity!
