FAREWELL TO AUDIT OFFICER.

Last week the officers of the Audit Department met to say 'farewell tp one of ifs oldest mejnbers, Mr. J., T. Dumbell, who has retired on superannuation . after the completion of 44 years' service. Mr. Dumbell was the recipient of a token of regard in the form of a pair of travelling rugs and watch. The ControJJer . and Auditor 7 Ge.neraJ, Col. R. J.: Collins, made the presentation and spoke feelingly in praise of Mr. Dumbell as a conscientious and efficient officer. He said Mr. Dumboll had come to the colony as a boy with his parents, and had shortly, afterwards entered the service. Twenty-nine yeara of that scry)ce were spent in the Audit Department, syhere he rose to the position of. officer in charge of the Controls Branch. Mr. Dumooll had been a keen spprt and had represented New Zealand arid his province at football. Now his activities were concentrated on the historic game pf bowls. He wished Mr. Dumbell long life and continued happiness to his wife and family. - 6' Mr. Dumbell suitably responded and expressed satisfaction at leaving the Department with the goodwill of his fellow officers.
