OFFICIAL RECOUNT COMPLETED POSITION OF CANDIDATES UNALTERED. The results of the local elections, as announced immediately after the polling on 30th' April last, have not been affected by the official reqount which was completed on Saturday night. Of course, there have been amendments to all the figures,, but these alterations are, on the whole, slight, and a position creditable to those officers responsible for the carrying out of the election—particularly to Mr. James Ames, the Returning Officeris revealed. As far as the Mayoralty is concerned there have been slight reductions in the number of votes credited to both Mr. Luke and Mr. Read, while Mr. Barber's figures were increased by 72. The official result is: — Luke, J. P: 7361 Read, John 6376 Barber, W. H. P 3553 The majority for Mr'. Luke over Mr. Read was thus 985, as against 923 ori the first count.
