Chbibtchubch. This Dat. John Woodward, the local candidate for Lincoln, addressed a meeting of electors at Springston last night. The proceedings were somewhat farcical, and the audience ohaffed the candidate, who freely returned their ohaff. He said the name of New Zealand would not be improved by its going forth to the world that its people were becoming a nation of whisky millers, the allusion being to Mr. Saunders' State distillery scheme ; he advooated a scheme of " Jubilee farms "— a land system founded on that of the ancient Jews. After over an hour's good-humoured disorder Woodward concluded by singing, "God Bless New Zealand," a song of bos own composition, to the tune of the National Anthem.
