HATS.
DECREES FOR WINTER.
Your hat is going to be the most important thing in your wardrobe this winter, and happily for most of our faces, this winter's hats are more feminine and easier to wear than they have been for several years. Materials for them are many and varied —they can be of your coat material, of astrakhan, or fur, to match the trimming of soft wool - material, but alove all else, velvet. Fashion always has a favourite and without a shadow of doubt velvet is the chosen material for this winter. From the Russian steppes, with a little Persian licence, comes the dashing Cossack cap. It is a flattering hat, and one of its great advantages is that it tends to give height, so that the woman who is shorter than she would like to be, and who wants to give herself a more dignified and distinguished air, could not do better than choose this. Make it of astrakhan cloth and wear it with a Cossack coat, and you'll be a raving success. Velvet, gathered into soft folds, which are held together with a bow, | or diamond brooch, makes another lovely beret type of hat. This has a genuine line which would deal, tenderly with the features of the woman who is not-so-young.
