ROYORUA. TERRIBLE BOAT DISASTER.— EIGHTEEN NATIVES ROWNED.
Our Taitranga coi respondent suids> the following : ""i'luni a gentleman just returned from llotorua, I lcam that a sad and m ■lanclioly disaster occuircil on Matarday last, on the Kotmua L<\ke, v/lien a canoe capsized, IS out of 20 m the canoe perishing, amongst them a thief o[ considerable rank. _ The canoe was cios&mg oacv from an island in the centre of the lake, called Mokia. The two X>eifenn3 vho escaped were two females. (i'-eat lament fttioiie. are going on, natives fiom all paifcs are gatheiing for the t .ngi, and bullocks, &c, are being collected for the feast."
