CORNER'S INQUEST.

A coroner's inquest was held at the General Camoroa Hotel yesterday, before T. M. Phitson, Esq., M.D., and a respectable jury, upon viewof the body of Leslie Walker, aged 11, who met with his death by drowning, on Monday last. Mr. William Parker was chosen foreman of the jury. The following evidence was adduced :—: — JBdwtrd Nolan deposed: About three o'clock yesterday afternoon I was sitting on some bags of maize meal, which were piled up in a heap near the end of • the Qaeen-street Wharf, I saw doceased jumping about on the bags, together with two other boys. I - saw deceased suddenly hubs his footing, and fall down between the wharf and the s.s. • Hero/ which was lyiug at the side of the wharf. I aua certain -that bo one pushed deceased. I imediately raised an alarm after deceased bad fallen overboard, and upon looking down at the spot where he slipped over 1 saw him struggling in the water. The current carried him down towards the stem of the ' Hero,' where he shortly afterwards sunk, and I did not see him rise again. A boat was lowered from the barque •Omega,' and one of the boat's crew took off his boots and dived after deceased, but was unsuccessful in his efforts to get him. A. grappling iron waa procured from the barque, about a quarter of An hour after the occurrence of the accident, and at the second trial with the drag the body of deceased wat brought to the surface, and conveyed to the watermen's house, where means were used to resuscitate it, without avail, 1 v .
