THAMES AND AUCKLAND SHIPPING.

' (VROH THE "THAMES ADVERTISER," JTJNB 16.) A OASI of sticking-up was reported to the police on Sunday. It appears that as a miner, named William Seymour, was passing along the corner of Wil-lougbby-street, near the Bendigo Hotel, about half* past 10 o'clock on Saturday evening, he was stuckup by a person who seized him from behind, and robbed him of one open-faced gold watch, marked " Chadwiok, Liverpool ;" one s<ola watch-guard, oue magnifying glas?, memorandum of accounts of Bobbie Burns and Lucky Hit Claims, a £1 note, some silver, a morocco cigar case containing spectacles, a miner's right (No. 306), a pocketboolt containing memoranda, &c. Andrew He^ey reports to the police that he was robbed, on Saturday evening, at the Bendigo Hotel, of one escapement watch, one gold guatd, half-*-sovereign, tume silver, a meerschaum pipe, four £1 notes, a magnifying glass (large size), agreements, &c. The informant was somewhat the worse for liquor at the time, and the police have been iuformed that the robbery must have been committed after he left the hotel in question. [t is possible that a clue will be obtained to the perpetrators of the above in a a few days. The lodgers at the West Coast Boarding- house, kept by Mrs. Mounce, were unceremoniously deprived of their morning meal on Sunday last, through tho intrusion of a hungry impostor, who sat down ut the table immediately the viands were spread, and did not line unlil he had completely devoured twelve man's breakfasts. The person was the worse for liquor at the.time, and, on being remonstrated *ith for his gluttony, attacked a man, named Nolan, with a knife he had in his hand at the time. The wound inflicted was not, however, of a dangerous character. The man was lodged in durance vile. and brought before Mr. Alan Baillie, J.P., yesterday morning for punishment as a drunkard, Nolan declining to prosecute on the graver charge of cuttiug and woundiag. A frog, found alive in one of the drives on the Karaka Creek, has been left for exhibition at the •hop of Messrs. Spencer and Co., chemists, Willoughby street.
