NAMES FOR NEW STREETS
STATE HOUSING AREA AT SPIfteYDON Streets in the State housing area at Spreydon are to be named after Mrs Elizabeth McCombs, M.P., and Mr F. R. Cooke, who were at one time members of the Christchurch City Council. The council received at a meeting last evening a report that the Housing Department proposed to call one street Elizabeth street, and the other Cooke street. The council’s town-planning committee reported that it had replied to the department pointing out that there was already one Elizabeth street, in Lower Riccarton, and suggesting that the new streets should be named McCombs street and Cooke street. The committee’s report was adopted.
