DR. J. D. FRANKISH.
A telegram was received in Christchurch yesterday announcing the death of Dr. J. D. Frankish in a private hospital in Wellington. Dr. Frankish, who retired from practice some twenty years ago, was a well-known resident of this province, being at one time a member of the committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club, as well as a member of the Acclimatisation Society. He was also a member of the hospital staff, and was prominent in connection with the initial work of the St. John Ambulance Brigade in New Zealand. (rSESS ASSOCIATION TEtECKAM.) OAMARU, March 21. Mr James Martin, for about thirty- ' five years County Clerk, died to-day. He resigned the position a year ago owing to ill-health. .
