Ihe definite results were not known till after tho telegraph office closed. At midnight it f-.eemed likely that Robert Fletcher would head the poll both for the Council and the Harbour Board. The Labour Party ran eight candidates for tho Council.'but they appear to liave succeeded only in electing two, both of whom were in the last Council.
