MR MARTIN CHAPMAN.

Mr Chapman, senior partner in the firm of Chapman and Tripp, was born in Wellington in the year 1t"46, and is a son of tho lato Mr Justice Onapman. His preliminary education was gainoJ in Melbourne, whence he went to_ London for its completion. In 1871 he was called to tho Bar of tins Inner Tomplo. After this ho remained in Londr.n, practising his protession as a barrister until l«'i), when he returned to tho colony, and was admitted a bani-ter nnd solicitor of the _-up.enie Court. Mr Chapman then on tered into practice in Wellington, and aftoi a few years was joined by tho late Mr William Fitzgeiald. On the death i>i Mr Fitzgeral.l. In public affairs, Mr Chapnian has seen service in tho City Council, and in many other ways has identified himself with tho pio o icea of Wellington.
