THE DRAINAGE FARM.
In consequence of the deputation reoeived by the Drainage Board at its last meeting complaining of unpleasantness caused by the drainage farm, and strongly noticeable from tha New Brighton tram road, Messrs R. M. Taylor, G. Mclntyre. 0.-Pahuiret, R. Pitcaithly, J. Down, and C. Burgess, members of the Board, together with Mr E. Cuthbert,. the secretary, and Mr _!. i Wright, engineer and clerk of the Heathcote Road Board, visited the place yesterj day afternoon.- They found that owing to ; the Toughness of the road in question the . contents of the street gullies had been spilled from the carts in which they were taken to the farm. It was decided to put ; the road in bstter oondation at once, and .to procure carts of a different pattern so that there would be less liability- to over- , run. It was also found that the race had ; accidentally broken away, so that several •: ponds had been temporarily formed of the ; sewage matter. These, however, wero fast d-sappeaa-ing through evaporation. The Board will level the adjacent hillocks into these depressions, so that the nuisance will not recur, and-it was further resolved to stop all other local bodies from carting rej §*?. n *% th * «*<*7«- These precaugons, it w behoved, will abate the j trouble.
