THE LATE MR VEEL.

The funeral of tho late Mr.T. V. ColborneVeel took place yesterday afternoon at two o'clock. Tho procession started from the deceased gentleman's late residence in Montreal street at two o'clock for the Barbadoes street Cemetery. The children of the Normal School, students aud teachers preceded the hearse. Following the mourning coach weru the members of the Board of Education, Inspectors, office staff, members of the Board of Canterbury College, Professors of Canterbury College, members of School Committees, Canterbury College etudentß. Behind these were several children from other schools, among them being the two upper standards of the West Christchurch School.

On arriving at the Cemetery the coffin was carried in by Dr. Anderson, Messrs L. B. Wood, J. C. Adams, and E. Watkins.

The funeral service was conducted by the Right Rev. Bishop Julius, assisted by the Yen. Archdeacon Lingani. A harmonium was placed near the grave, and the hymns, •'Artthou weary, art thoa languid," and '♦Not mine, but Thine, O Lord!" were sung to Mr Edward Watkins'a uccpmpanimenc.

There were several very beautiful wreaths, the gifts respectively of tho Canterbury College Board of Governors, the Girls' High School, the Normal. School Siaff, boys of the Normal School, girls of the Normal Hubool, Seventh Standard Normal students, Normal School Office Staff, and the Education Board. The Ashburton Schools were cloeed yesterday afternoon as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mr J. V. Colborne-Veel.
