CRICKET ASSOCIATION.
The Committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association met last night. Present—Messrs A. M. Ollivier (in the chair), L. A. Cuff, C. R. Smith, J. "D. Lawrence and T. D. Harman.
Ths Secretary of the New Zealand Cricket Council reported that New South Wales was sending a representative team to New Zealand, and the Council suggested that each Association should contribute to the Council 70 per cent, of the gross receipts, less gate charges. The Council also desired to know in what interprovincial matches the Canterbury Association were likely to be engaged. The terms suggested were agreed to, and it was decided to inform the Council that the Association would play Otago at Dunedin, and Wellington at Christchurch (if possible) next season.
It was agreed to wiito to the Wellington Association to ask if it would be sending a team to play Canterbury next season, and to suggest to the South Canterbury Association that it should affiliate with the local Association.
The annual meeting was fixed for Septembar 24th.
The Chairman read a letter, which he said had been duly acknowledged, from the Wellington Association, conveying the deepest isyropathy of that Association with the Canterbury Association in the great loaa it had sustained by tbe decease of so prominent a cricketer as the late Mr A. F. D. Harman.
The meeting shortly after adjourned.
