LANCASTER PARK

The annual meeting of the Lancaster Park Cricket Club was held at the Cify Hotel on Saturday evening, when there were thirty-two members present. Mr W. 1). Meares, President, occupied the chair. The report of the Committee regretted that they had not the same cause to congratulate the members on the results of their matches aa in most previous seasons, but generally speaking they had good reason to be satisfied with the past year. Five teams were put in the field, thus giving all members an opportunity of takiug part in some of the matches. They had now eighty-eight members on the rol, and they hoped to see a still further increase during the coming season. Teams were sent to meet Carisbrook, Otmaru, South Canterbury, Riugiora, aud Akaroa. Club cricket was interfered with considerably by an extraordinary number of representative matches, but it was thought that this year the Cup matches would be carried through to a fiuish. Messrs L. A. Cuff, H. DeMaus, A. and C. Ridley, aud P. Wilding had taken part in iuterprovinuial matches, and Messrs Cuff and DeMaus were also honoured by inclusion in the first team that had ever represented New Zealand. Mr Cuffs 176 against Auckland, with Mr Lawrence, who scored 167, aud Air DeMaus , 113 against New South Wales, were among the striking features of the season. The senior team played 9 matches, winning 4 and losing 5 ; 2 cup matches had been won and 2 lost. Iα the averages for batting in all matches Mr Wilding headed the list with 23.1, and in Cup matches Mr A. Ridley led with 31. lv bowling, in all matches Mr C. R> Smith with au average of 7 runs per wicket, and in cup matches Mr Jcbnsou with 13.3 per wicket, come first. The junior team won 4 matches out of 6. Mr Brook headed the batting averages with 30.3 per innings, and Mr Gunthorpe the bowling with 8.3 per wicket. Tue President's Cup team also did fairly well. The Thursday team, under the leadership of Mr W. A. Cooke, had an unbeaten record. Mr Pavitt averaged 79, Mr Cooke 45 and Mr Willis 37, Mr Pavitt having made the highest single innings' iudmdual scors of last season, viz., 190 not out. The relations of the (Jlub with the Ground Company had been very satisfactory. It was suggested that an annuaf match should be played with the Wellington Club. The balance sheet showed the Club was in a healthy financial condition, having a credit balance of £12 sa, with no liabilities, which after starting the season with Is 2d v>o.3 very satisfactory. The Committee desired to thank. the various ladies who kindly dispensed afternoon tea, and Mr Oilivier for auditing the accounts.

On the motion of the Chairman , , seconded by Mr E. S. Harley, the report and balance sheet was unanimously adopted. iav Habley presented a bat to Mr Ronalds as the beat Held in the President's Cup team, aud Mr Ltaphael'a trophy for the best batting average in the same team was won by Mr E. Cooke

Mr W. Keece was elected an honorary member, and Messrs Bromley, W. Nancar row, Steeds and Cross active members.

The election of officers resulted as under: —President, Mr VV. D. Meares (re-elected); Vbe-Presidents, Messrs E. S. Harley, W. R. Cooke, A. M. OUivier, and J. Waller, re-elected, and the Rev. Gordon Webster; Hon. Treasurer, Mr C. R. Smith, re-elected; Hon. Secretary, Air A. Cant, re-elected; Committee, Messrs A. E. Ridley, J. Fowke, M. Steeds, C. Ridley, H. DeMaus, F. Wilding, L. A. Cuff, and F. Waller; Delegate to the Cricket Association, Mr L. A. Cuff; Delegate to the Sports Protection Association, Hr A. Caut.

The appointment of a Selection Committee was left in the hands of the Geueral Committee.

Mr Harley offered another bat for the best field in the President's Cup team during the next season, the winuer of the trophy last season not to be eligible, and Mr Cuff offered a bat for the best Held iv the Junior Cup team. The date for the opening of the season was left to the Committee to fix.

Oil the motion of Mr Ccff the incoming Committee were recommended to take into consideration the questiou of appointing a professional coach. After transacting some routine business and passing the usual votes of thanks the meeting terminated.
